Goals for the New Year!! {and my favorite part of Christmas}

We were pretty busy this Christmas but we made some nice memories. My favorite of all those was the day that my husband James made sugar cookies and that the six of us decorated them together. I felt the most joy out of all the days we did anything. It was one of those perfect moments. The icing, the sprinkles, the sampling...

I loved it all. Most of all it was the smiles and the laughter and no fighting!! That is a rare thing at our house. lol. I guess that goes with having 4 very strong minded children.

These were the best cookies we ever had :)

On to the Goals for the New Year!!

My first major life goal, ever since I was young, was to be published. I thought back then that I would write a book. I was big into romance novels when I was a teenager and I won a few writting awards back then, so naturally that is what I wanted to do. As I got older my dreams of being an author did not leave completely but altered and slowly became the simple goal to be published. As most of you know I realized that dream in 2009. I had to start thinking of what the next goal would be and knowing that Jewelry Design is my destiny, what I was meant to do, I thought it would be good to make my goals for this year jive with my carreer.
Goal #1   To get Designer Highlight in Bead Trends Magazine
Goal #2   To have a Front Cover with Bead Trends Magazine
Goal #3   To be published in any other publication
Goal #4   To reach 100 sales in my Etsy shop
Goal #5 To pay off my debt
Goal #6   To have a local article written about my business to help promote it.
Goal #7   To spend less money and think through my purchases more carefully
Goal #8   To have at least one retail store carry my merchandise

Of course I can always adjust or change these as the Year goes on, I feel that these goals are all possible to achieve, and that through hard work and dedication I can achieve many more. I am working especially hard on three of those right now and as time passes the others will hopefully fall into place.
So thanks to Erin Prais-Hintz for the idea...my word for the year
ACHIEVE
Thanks to all my blogging friends for their support, I would be {almost} nothing without you!!

My favorite family tradition is cookie-decorating, too. When I was a kid, I would sit in my grandmother's kitchen along with two of my cousins and spend the whole day baking and decorating (and of course, sampling). We have a rule that the cookies are merely a "delivery system" for the frosting ;-)

Great goals for 2010, too. We have quite a few that are the same and I hope we both achieve them!

What cute kids you have! I loved decorating cookies as a kid. Haven't had as much time as an adult to do that. Need to do that more.
I think that you never really know if you realized a goal unless you have written it down, and it helps to put it out there to the rest of the world to keep you honest! I am not goal-oriented. But last year I set a goal to be published once per month and to donate 12 items to charitable causes. Success on both accounts. Wonderful that you are pusuing your goals aggressively. Now, go an make it happen! Enjoy the day, Marie!

We kind of took a pass on the cookies, this year - my kids are getting to old to want to do that now (14 and 11) but it looks like you all had a lot of fun - it's great to make memories for your children! Great goals, too - Erin is right, writing them down is a really good idea! Best wishes!

Your cookies were too pretty to eat! I'd like to add all those goals to my list to but especially #5. That's a biggie.

I'm up for the weight loss challenge. It's always great to have others watching over you and inspiring you to do good.
